Cunningham Brick Company, Inc. of Lexington, N.C. announces that it's Cleveland County Plant is the first brick plant in the United States to earn a Third-Party Certification of the pre-consumer recycle waste contents of its' products.
An Audit and verification process was performed by the National Brick Research Center of Clemson University to confirm recycle content and reduced use of natural resources at the plant located in Kings Mountain, N.C.
Incorporating pre-consumer waste clays and other recycled natural resources,
Cunningham Brick Co., Inc. produces products with a low of 7% to a high of 85%, certified recycle content.
The use of pre-consumer recycled waste in brick manufacturing helps Architects
and Builders comply with design and construction sustainability efforts to qualify for points under the LEED rating system as well as reducing the use of virgin raw materials.
